Columns

Standard Columns
The four standard architectural columns illustrated here are among our most popular designs, and are available in any length to meet your requirements. Components for these columns are kept in stock and can be assembled, finished and made ready for shipment within two working days of placing your order. Other sizes of columns, along with a selection of both round and square capital and base designs, are available on special order.

Unless ordered otherwise, Advanced Foam’s standard architectural columns are supplied in one piece, all parts pre-assembled, with a 4″ x 4″ center cutout to slip over the most commonly used load-bearing support. In addition, all of our column bases are made of high-density foam for extra impact resistance.

Spiral Columns

Developed especially for the studio industry, Advanced Foam’s spiral columns are by far the most cost-effective specialty columns available. We offer seven standard spiral shaft designs, any of which can be combined with any of our capitals and bases to create a truly custom look. Due to the long list of options, components for these spiral columns are not kept in stock, but can be produced quickly according to your specifications. Contact a member of our sales staff for complete ordering details.

Entasis Columns

Entasis columns, which date back to early Greek and Roman times, are characterized by their smoothly curved tapering shafts. By offering standardized sizes, Advanced Foam lets you add these distinctive decorative shapes to your set at minimal cost. Choose between two styles: the simpler Tuscan or the more slender Roman Doric with its slightly embellished capital and base.

Tuscan style entasis columns (below left) feature a base shaft diameter of 14″ for columns whose total overall length ranges from 90″ to 105″. For columns longer than 105″ and up to 120″ in length the base shaft diameter increases to 16″, and the capital and base dimensions shown here increase by 2″ as well.

Advanced Foam’s entasis columns are usually supplied assembled in one piece with a 4″ x 4″ center cutout. They can be custom ordered with larger or smaller cutouts as needed.
Column lengths and diameters other than shown here are available on special order. We also offer a variety of capital and base designs.

Roman Doric entasis columns (near left) feature a base shaft diameter of 12″ for columns whose total overall length ranges from 90″ to 105″. For columns longer than 105″ and up to 120″ in length the base shaft diameter increases to 14″, and the capital and base dimensions shown here increase by 2″ as well.
